Vintage Aidan Breen crowned peacock brooch in 9kt yellow gold. A solid gold brooch in the form of a peacock, fashioned after the 8th century book of Kells depiction of the crowned peacock, fitted to reverse with a secure hinged pin and safety scroll. Hallmarked 9kt, Irish. Maker's mark Aidan Breen.
The Peacock symbolised immortality and Christ's resurrection as it was an ancient belief that the flesh of a peacock did not decay.
