This hinged bangle is of buckle design, the broad band engraved throughout with aesthetic-period foliate sprays against a matted ground and divided by plain polished bands, the front applied with a scallop-edged gold buckle and pin, with a gold strap-end bar and two gold-collet eyelets to the tail, the buckle plate bordered above and below by rows of applied silver beads.
The upper and lower rims are applied with plain gold borders which continue around the full circumference, and the bangle is of hinged construction with a concealed clasp and a safety chain, tested silver with gold applied detail.
Weighing 41.2 grams.
Why we are obsessed:
The buckle is the whole language of Victorian sentiment jewellery, fidelity and the strap that binds, and this one carries it in gold against silver with the engraving still sharp enough to read every leaf.
