Why we are obsessed:
In the later part of the Victorian period there was an obsession with celestial motifs as scientific breakthroughs in astrophysics, chemistry, and astronomy sparked public fascination with the solar system and the cosmos; as a result Queen Victoria and later Queen Alexandra frequently wore and further popularized star and crescent jewellery and the crescent moon was often given as a honeymoon present, symbolising new beginnings.
