Platinum Old European Cut Diamond Ring with Baguette Diamond Shoulders

A platinum ring set with an old European cut diamond of 3.01ct at centre, I colour, VS2 clarity. The stone is claw-set in platinum with a baguette-cut diamond set in a rectangular platinum collet to each side as shoulder detail. The geometric treatment is characteristic of the Art Deco period, with the clean rectangular baguette housings providing a strong angular contrast to the round centre stone.

The old European cut centre diamond displays the characteristic large culet, high crown and small table of the period. At 3.01ct with VS2 clarity the stone is clean to the eye with good transparency. The I colour places it in the near-colourless to faint range, which reads as white in platinum.
