The old European-cut diamond, with an estimated weight of 0.40 carats, set beside an oval-cut ruby, with an estimated weight of 0.60 carats, between curving pavé-set rose-cut diamond shoulders with old European-cut diamond terminals, tested 14 karat rose gold, finger size L, (sizeable).
The diamonds have been assessed by our in-house gemologists as approximately K/L colour, VS/SI clarity.
Why we are obsessed:
Toi et Moi rings were first made popular by Napoleon who gave one to Marie-Josèphe-Rose Tascher de la Pagerie, (Josephine ) as an engagement ring to mimic two paths or entities wrapping around each other. This type of ring reached its peak in popularity during the early part of the 20th century, which is from when this wonderful example dates. The curving rose-cut diamond shoulders borrow the flowing, and naturalistic curves popular in the surrounding Art Nouveau movement.
