Antique Acrostic 'Regard' Harp Brooch In Yellow Gold
Antique acrostic harp brooch spelling 'REGARD', set in gold.
Formed as a stylised harp, the brooch is set with a sequence of gemstones representing the acrostic 'REGARD': ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby, and diamond. The stones are set in a vertical line within an open gold frame designed in the shape of a classical harp, detailed with twisted rope-like gold wire, engraved flourishes, and applied bead motifs. Fitted with a hinged pin and C-clasp to the reverse. Likely of English origin, circa 1850–1870. Tests as high-carat yellow gold.
