18ct Gold Cupid and Venus Enamel Brooch
A Victorian 18ct gold enamel brooch dating to circa 1895. The square panel depicts a classical scene of Cupid holding a mirror before Venus, hand-painted in polychrome enamel on a black ground. The gold frame features a fine beaded border throughout.
A beautiful example of Victorian enamel work with strong colour and fine detail in the painting. The classical subject matter is typical of the Aesthetic Movement period.
