Antique Victorian Essex crystal carved and beautifully hand painted with a pair of turtle doves on a honeysuckle tree branch, signifying the Victorians' close association with true love. Set on a mother of pearl background in 18kt gold.

Essex crystal or reverse intaglio are made from a cabochon or domed crystal which has been carved from the back and then hand painted. The finished piece is then mounted with mother of pearl background into a gold fitting. This mini masterpiece is a very fine example of the highest quality of workmanship, both in the intricacy of the carving and the level of detail of the painting.
