Antique Fenian Claddagh ring in 18kt yellow gold. Engraved with the date 1913 and two intials on the heart.
The Fenian Claddagh ring, while they may have originated before the traditional Claddagh ring, are synonymous with the Fenian movement from 1850-1900, particularly around Dublin. The removal of the crown was symbolic of the Fenians desire to be free from rule under the British crown. These rings would have been specifically made for a person at the time. An original Fenian Claddagh ring like this, is a very rare find and one that is steeped in symbolism and history.
