Hallmarked in France this ruby and diamond platinum ring is from c.1930. The ruby is bezel set with yellow gold and surrounded by two rows of diamonds.

Nearly all jewellery comes with a hallmark stamped onto the piece. Majority of these are found on the inside of the band or in a discreet place. However the French hallmark all their pieces on the outside of their jewellery. The wolf’s head is clearly identifiable here, showing this piece is platinum. To symbolise 18kt gold, the only gold French use they use an eagle’s head.
